Guarding My Chickens

10/2/25 I often look down from my studio windows to check on the chickens. This simple rainbow pinwheel has been guarding them for the past 6 months. The movement and sparkly light reflecting off the pinwheel has successfully warded off birds of prey while my girls are outdoors. I guess it’s a modern day ‘scarecrow’. At any rate it’s confusing enough when a bird flies overhead, so they stay away. I’ll probably take it down for the winter because my chickens don’t like to go out in the snow. Maybe I’ll even get a second season out of it! Not bad for a $5.00 purchase. I love it when there’s a simple solution to a problem.
